FROM PROTAGONISM TO EXCLUSION
(IN)ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE BY LGBTQIAPN+ ELDERLY PEOPLE

This article aims to identify the barriers faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transvestite, transsexual, queer, intersex, asexual, pansexual, non-binary and other definitions (LGBTQIAPN+) elderly people in accessing health care. This is an integrative literature review based on searches for scientific articles in four databases. After reading the titles and abstracts, the studies were read in full and the selected ones went through the methodological quality assessment stage and the level of evidence, based on the checklist proposed by the Agency for Healthcare and Research and Quality and the adaptation of the Critical Appraisal Skill Programme. Six studies were included, 4 of which were cross-sectional and 2 were qualitative studies with a 6A level of evidence. The heteronormativity characteristic of health services, the apprehension of suffering discrimination, the unpreparedness of professionals regarding the needs of this community and the absence or scarcity of specialized services were the barriers mentioned. These obstacles can often cause a worsening of the prognosis of morbidities by postponing the search for institutional health care. Knowledge about these barriers makes it possible to plan and develop strategies that respond, in the best way, to the needs and specificities of this population, guaranteeing comprehensiveness and respect in care, promoting successful and inclusive experiences and better health outcomes for elderly people from minorities sexual and gender.
