This article deals with child sexual abuse which is considered a public health issue in many countries, not only by the high prevalence but also by severe psychological and social damage on both the victim and the people close to her. It states that, rather than the consent of the victim or not, is concerned the lack of maturity for such consent. Considering the abuse as an experience and not a disorder foresees the impossibility of an specific syndrome diagnosis by the victim of abuse. Raises the difficulty of obtaining epidemiological data that occurs due to the lack of complaint by feelings of shame, guilt and fear. It deals also with important points of vulnerability factors, the evaluation and confirmation of the case, clinical intervention and prevention possibilities.
