This is a preliminary correlational descriptive research study whose objective is to clearly expound how the aesthetic factor influences the sexual desire of women. To approach the issue of sexual desire and beauty standards we started from the historical context and analyzed how both topics have been correlated until the present day, emphasizing the sociocultural role of women and recovering concepts like the beauty model and sexual desire. The advent of oral contraceptives brought professional and sexual freedom to women, giving them a body image that results from a combination of attitudes, feelings, and values. In the Western world, seeking to obtain a desirable body keeps a direct relationship with the evolution of clothing, with an impact on that aesthetic standard. This study has brought a perception that fitting the expected beauty model does not guarantee that women will be able to freely express their sexuality or spontaneously feel desire.
