Researches on diagnosis and treatment of the sexual dysfunctions have been moving forward quickly in the last years. They have caused the progress in the standardization of measures to assess the sexual function. It is considered that clinical instruments such as questionnaires, scales and inventories are standardized measures of obtaining information and, therefore, the data produced by them should be trusted. The present article detaches three brief instruments, of easy administration, which bring many levels of measure, but evaluate, by different domains, the sexual function in men. All of them use the triad of the human sexual response (desire, excitement and orgasm), as theoretical substantiation and, they present good psychometric data. The major concern of the presented descriptions was not choosing an instrument for use, but to present a scenario and to motivate the use of the available instruments.
