Abstract

Sexuality has been much analyzed during the last decades. However, sexuality as a subject is not officially included to the university curriculum yet. As a consequence, most of the experts in sexuality are trained outside the academia. ln addition, experts in sexology have very diverse education and training. This results in a dichotomy between interdisciplinary fields, inherent to the sexuality studies, and actual multi-disciplinary due to the disparity of professions involved in sexuality today. With this situation in mind, this paper presents a theory of ethics for sexology that considers three pillars: 1. Professional identity (a definition of the contents of the discipline). 2. Limits of each profession regarding sexuality analysis (a "crisis theory"). 3. Resources that can be used (stick to the "a lt rly p rn rp t ). This paper discuses these three pillars and identifies the urgency to set up university degrees in sexuality; and insists on the need of an ethics code for professionals working in sexuality.
