FACILITIES AND DIFFICULTIES IN EXPERIENCING SEXUALITY DURING PREGNANCY

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the ease and difficulties in experiencing sexuality during pregnancy. This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, carried out with 14 pregnant women undergoing prenatal care at a Basic Health Unit in the city of Cajazeiras, Paraíba, Brazil. Semi structured interviews were used for data collection, after approval by the Ethics and Research Committee. The Discourse of Collective Subject was used to organize and analyze the results. It was identified, as ease, in the course of the discourses, the increase in sexual desire and positive feelings in relation to self-image and as difficulties, physical transformations as an obstacle to the sexual act and negative feelings in relation to self-image. It is important for the woman to have a space for bonding and dialogue with the health professional, in order to expose her experience and clear up her doubts, so that she can empower herself and experience her sexuality fully.
