Objective: to investigate the likelihood of risky sexual behaviors occurring among people who use and do not use Tinder to meet sexual partners through the delay discounting task with hypothetical sexual situations. In parallel, this study measured the sample's knowledge about STIs. Method: the study is empirical with quantitative bases, in which it was applied to 40 university students, men and women, who were between 18 and 30 years old, heterosexual and sexually active, in addition to being separated into people who use or have used dating apps, at least in the last 3 months until now. Results: people who use Tinder and people who do not use it presented a similar discount (U = 180, z = -0.528, p = 0.60), in addition to there being no relationship between the sexual behavior of both groups and the knowledge about STIs, which were obtained through the instruments: Hypothetical Sexual Choices Task and the Portuguese adaptation of the STD-KQ. Conclusions: There was no significant difference in sexual risk behaviors between Tinder users and non-users, however, it was possible to notice the low knowledge of participants about STIs in general.
