The present article has a conclusive character based on the research made in public and private schools in the city of Rio de Janeiro, from the year 2013, result of the doctoral thesis on science education by Universidade Nacional do Rosário, in Argentina. Therefore, it was necessary to traverse a trajectory with semantics, historical, social, political and psychological basis about education and sexuality. Sexual Orientation is defined through the PCNs, National Curriculum Parameters / National Curriculum Standards (Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais) 1998, in its Sexual Orientation section. With the field researches at the schools, it was perceived that the professionals of education – heads and teachers, in the great majority – affirmed to know what sexual orientation is, however, only a small portion of them have a pluralist and wide view of sexuality in relation to the educational process as whole. Despite being in favor of sexual orientation, they highlight the lack of preparation on their professional qualification for its effectiveness. Thus, the results indicate that the studied/analyzed schools tend to deal with the matter of sexuality still with mutism. The current situation of sexual orientation in schools of the city of Rio de Janeiro exposes an education reality that needs to go through a transformation word towards the process of democratization. Moreover, it is noticed how much Brazil still needs to evolve in its educational process, to suit better to the global ideological demands concerning the openness to the cultural diversity and the education facing citizenship. It is believed that, with the investment of the Ministry of Education (Ministério da Educação) and the effort of specialized professionals, including from the area of education, a real policy of action implementation of the sexual orientation in Brazilian schools can be developed, reducing sexual health issues and, as a consequence, social order issues as a whole.
