From classes and seminars presented in the discipline “Foundations of Educational Policy and Management” during the first half of 2013 the School Education Program at Unesp-Araraquara, especially when we began discussions on modernity, postmodernity and the consequences of globalization, we realized the need for an understanding / consideration of the issues tied to the lines of the program, specifically the research line “Sexuality, culture and sexual education”. There were several initial questions that led us to think and briefly present some notes in this text: how they are / are the current relationships, whether between any genders in the modernity or postmodernity? There are cultural traits that remained? Social networks (which effectively marks this period) have (dis) enabled contribute to the pursuit of immediate pleasure? When we make use of this feature? The virtual world meets (sexual) relationships? Based mainly on the discussions of the book “The consequences of modernity,” Anthony Giddens, the author challenges us and makes us think of a quote from John Donne, asking us: “What if this present were the world’s last night?” (1991, p. 6). From this initial quote and the questions mentioned above, based on the seminars and discussions presented in the discipline, we first present in this paper a brief account of what is modernity from Giddens (1991) and in a second phase, we present a discussion on what we call Fast love - instant love of our current culture, and make speeches about the insecurity generated by the pursuit of immediate pleasure.
