Abstract

This article aims to show how young women in prison live their sexuality and create strategies of pleasure as a way to withstand incarceration. Based on a qualitative research with 30 women in the age group of 18 and 29 years in prison sentence in São Paulo, the article highlights the creative potential of women who seek sorority and resilience as forms of mental health, affective and sexual to overcome the vulnerabilities, the family abandonment and the scarce possibilities of intimate visit. Many of them begin to relate sexually and affectively with other women and have the opportunity to know and explore their body and other possibilities of pleasure, including masturbation and other sexual practices that they did not use before.
