Abstract

Objective: Evaluate the most frequent sexual issues among women with high risk pregnancies and their association with social and behavioral aspects during pregnancy. Method: transversal study, developed at the Integrated Women Health Care Center in Aracaju, Sergipe. The sample had a total of 200 patients who signed a consent form. The differences between proportions were analyzed using the Pearson chi-squared test or Fisher’s exact test and, for analyzing the averages of two independent samples, the t student test was applied. The study has been submitted and approved by the Ethics in Research Committee under the protocol CAAE number 15436913.5.0000.5546. Results: Sexual issues during pregnancy were more frequent in women from the capital (66%), with higher education (67%), with previous abortions (62%) and in the third trimester (63%). The interviewed women complained of lack of libido (64%) and lack of orgasm (70%). The most common issue was the difficulty in sexual positions because of the increased abdominal volume (31%), which explains why the favorite position was lying on the side (56%). Conclusion: Sexual issues happen more often among pregnant women with higher education, in the third trimester and with previous sexual problems.
