The World Health Organization (WHO) considers as well as the physical, mental and social well being, the sexual health also has been considered one of the parameters used to evaluate the quality of life of an individual or community. However, this is still a neglected area in primary health care of populations. This study aimed to build an instrument capable of measuring sexual satisfaction of men and women, contemplating both emotional satisfaction and physical pleasure. Onto this porpuse, three scales were constructed: Emotional Sexual Satisfaction Scale, Sexual Activity Satisfaction Scale and Sacale of Satisfaction with Orgasm. From a sample of 799 subjects in the Brazilian population, a factor analysis and verification of internal consistency of each scale was analysed. These analysis confirmed good psychometric qualities becoming an option of measure for assessing sexual satisfaction for the Brazilian population.
