The initiation of sexual life occurs at an increasingly earlier age, often with undesired consequences, such as sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) or pregnancy. It is therefore fundamental for adolescents to have adequate knowledge regarding sexuality. The aim of the present study was to assess the effects of a sexuality workshop on sexual knowledge and behavior among adolescents. Methods: 234 adolescents from 15 to 20 years of age (students of a professional training course) who participated in sexuality workshops answered a questionnaire in the first and last class. Results: Half of the adolescents reported not having initiated sexual life. Mean age at the first sexual relation was 14.76 years. The adolescents reported prizing fidelity in love relationships and having difficulty discussing the subject with their parents. The adolescents cited more contraceptive methods and STDs on the posttest than on the pretest. The most cited method was the condom. Conclusion: The results of the posttest allow concluding that the adolescents exhibited more knowledge regarding contraceptive methods, STDs and AIDS.
