INTERFERENCE OF THE MOUTHPIECE HEALTH IN THE AFFECTIVE AND SEXUAL LIFE IN ELDERLY PEOPLE

Abstract

The great growth of the elderly population in recent years have stimulated the production of studies according to the factors associated to this age. The present study had the objective to investigate the interference of the condition of mouthpiece health in the affective and sexual life of elderly residents in the city of GovernadorValadares.  The data were collected from a clinical examination of the mouthpiece socket, an auto-evaluation of mouthpiece health and psychological interview. We can observe that the condition of mouthpiece health of the aged ones are very unsatisfactory. Such situation generates negative impacts to the quality of life of these elderly people. It was showed in the speech of some elderly people, the low condition of the mouthpiece health in which they are found, interfere in the moments of exchanges  affections with their partners, affecting their sexual livelihood.
