Abstract

Sexual abuse of children is an important public health problem in Brazil, often involving in the intrafamily environment, with a relationship of affective attachment between the victim and the sexual aggressor. Thus, the present study aimed to understand what leads individuals to sexually abuse children of the same family context according to cognitive behavioral therapy. It is a review of the literature of published scientific productions from 2008 to 2018, in the main national databases. The data showed that most of the aggressors are male, adult, with ties of trust and care for the victim. With motivations linked to the manifestation of sexual fantasies, cognitive distortions and impulsive behavior towards psychic stress, due to possible biological, temperamental and environmental causes. Multidisciplinary interventions are needed with a focus on the Behavioral Cognitive Approach.
