SAME-SEX COUPLES RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN GAYS

Abstract

The objective of this article is to provide reflections on the research subject of same-sex couples relationships between gays, beginning by the influence of historical factors that produced a departure from the subject as an interesting theme for investigation, as well as to indicate significant events that have led from a lack of interest to the conduction of researches in this area. The focus of interest is also to describe some characteristics and challenges that enable such partnerships to become stable, based on the influence of factors such as institutional and family prejudices, lack of rituals that signal commitment, challenges due to internalized homophobia, and the socialization of male gender roles, among others
