Abstract

Fecal incontinence is determined as the uncontrolled passage of the liquid or solid fecal bolus through the anal sphincter. Men who use the anus as the only route of sex are more subject to anorectal injuries because the anus has no elasticity or natural lubrication, a fact that causes weaknesses in its structures. According to the Barros (2019), the year 2018 compared to previous years showed an increasing number of marriages between homosexuals in the country, 41.57% among homosexual men. Therefore, there is a need to improve health care for these individuals, so this study aimed to collect scientific evidence that supports the hypothesis that the use of the anus as the only route of sex is associated with higher rates of fecal incontinence. This is a descriptive study of the type of literature review conducted with the aim of conducting a synthesis of articles that analyzed the relationship between fecal incontinence and use of the anus as the only way of sex. Four articles were used with a total sample of 6968 men who practice anal sex. Among these causes observed in the studies, we can mention the decrease in resting pressure, reduction of the electrosensitivity of the anal mucosa, lesions in the internal sphincter, as well as the anal sex itself as a causative agent of change in the consistency of the stools or the continence mechanisms. There is strong evidence that low anal resting pressure is associated with higher rates of fecal incontinence, in addition to the fact that anoreceptive men have more fecal incontinence than women. The evidence found in this review points to strong evidence that individuals who practice anoreceptive sexual intercourse have low anal rest pressure, in which, such alteration is associated with higher rates of fecal incontinence.
