Sexual activity is an extremely complex process, including organic, psychological, religious and socio-cultural aspects. An adequate understanding of the phases of the Human Sexual Response Cycle is fundamental for the comprehension of the sexual dysfunctions. The excitation phase is basically the preparation of the body for the sexual act, including congestive and miotonic reactions. The essential characteristic of the female sexual excitation dysfunction is the inability. Several factors can cause or contribute to the development of this dysfunction: organic-physical, organic-hormonal and psychosocial. The treatment should focus in the main cause. The basic approach includes general measures that should be used in every case.
