FACTORS INFLUENCING SEXUALITY EXPRESSION

The period of gestation constitutes a phase of great emotional, physiological and social changes and has repercussion in the expression of the sexuality of the woman and the couple. Sexuality is a behavior that is expressed by feelings, thoughts, stimuli, intimacy and pleasures and, in the gestation period, these characteristics must be even more valued so that the couple can keep in harmony during this phase. It is a review article in the literature, aiming to evaluate the Sexual Response and Sexual Behavior of women in the gestational period. It is also relevant to identify possible influences and interferences in the manifestation of this behavior and sexual response, such as beliefs, myths and the conjugal relationship itself. Throughout the studies, physiological, emotional and behavioral modifications have interfered with desire, arousal and sexual satisfaction; however, if there is dialogue, affectivity, emotional intimacy and sexual intimacy in the marital relationship, these changes may be better overcome at this stage. In the literature, it was demonstrated that there is a decrease in desire and arousal in the first and third trimesters of gestation and that there is an increase in desire and sexual frequency in the second trimester due to the inhibitory physiological alterations have normalized and due to increased self-esteem, body and hormonal variations that favor this period. It was identified that beliefs, myths and taboos also have their share in the changes of sexual desire and frequency and, in general, what was
evidenced was the fear of hurting the fetus and / or the pregnant woman. The stimulies that the sexual organs proved to be of great value, making it necessary to explore new ways of feeling pleasure and adjusting sexual positions.
