Objective: to assess the incidence and associated factors to subsequent pregnancy among adolescents.Methodology: Adolescent that were attended at an unit at the Teaching Hospital Assis Chateaubriand from the Federal University of Ceará was followed-up over a five-year period. We examined the incidence of repeat pregnancy during the study period and factors related to repeated pregnancy. Results: Most became pregnant again (61%) in the five-year period that followed their first pregnancy, often with another partner. Age group, enrollment in school, working or living with parents did not protect against a subsequent pregnancy. However, those having 8 or less years of schooling (elementary school) were more likely to have a new pregnancy than those from high school level (relative risk [RR] = 1,89). Adolescents who were married or lived with a partner were less likely to become pregnant again than those who had a boyfriend like those who reported they were with a different partner (RR = 1,4).Conclusion: repeated pregnancies were related to schooling level and to new partners and unstable unions.
