REFLEXIONES SOBRE EL PODER DE LAS PERSONAS TRANS PARA DECIDIR SI SE SOMETEN A CIRUGÍA DE AFIRMACIÓN DE GÉNERO

Resumen

Se trata de una reflexión sobre los discursos médicos que describen experiencias o regulan la cirugía de afirmación de género (CAG). Para ello se trabajó con los supuestos teórico-metodológicos del análisis del discurso foucaultiano. Se utilizó como técnica de investigación el análisis documental de artículos científicos, manuales y normas sanitarias. Fue evidente que el discurso médico trata la experiencia trans como algo que hegemónicamente necesita un “arreglo” quirúrgico para mejorar la calidad de vida. No hay duda de la importancia médica y social de la alternativa quirúrgica para quienes la desean, sin embargo, la forma en la que se “vende” la idea del proceso transexualizante como una idea de resolución del fenómeno de la transexualidad es cuestionado. En algunos discursos se omite la idea de que la expectativa de mejora de la disforia de género después de CAG puede ser un proceso frustrante. Las evaluaciones posteriores a la CAG aún no arrojaron evidencia homogénea de mejoras significativas en aspectos relacionados con la calidad de vida. Además, antes de la publicación de la resolución CFM 2265/2019, las personas que el “gatekeeper” no consideraba “verdaderamente” trans eran excluidas de este proceso. Se encontraron discursos que refuerzan la idea de género hegemónico al determinar que la persona “normal” es aquella que tiene coherencia entre sexo, género y sexualidad. Por tanto, existe un desfase entre los avances en nomenclaturas y el discurso médico que aún refuerza la patologización de la transexualidad, cuando fundamenta ideales normativos binarios.
