THE EXPERIENCE OF AN EDUCATION COURSE FOR SEXUALITY WITH TEENAGERS

Issues such as early pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases are among the most alarming set of concerns about the sexuality education aimed at young people. From conducting a quantitative and qualitative nature of research conducted in the Family Clinic Olympia Esteves, located in the Realengo neighborhood, in Rio de Janeiro, it was possible to trace the profile of adolescent users of the clinic and residents in the neighborhood, there was a perceived need to create a course of sexuality education, creating Multipliers Course in Sexual Education, “Not Only for Girls”, being implemented in Nicaragua Municipal School, located in Realengo. This article aims to outline the profile of adolescent participants of the course, which has an average age between 12 to 14 years, students from eighth grade, and analyze the changes that the intervention of sexuality influences the life of youth. Based on data collected from questionnaires applied to these teenagers, the average age of onset of sexual activity is increasingly early, with an average age of 12 years old, made in most cases without proper guidance, in which 72% of adolescents do not talk about their sexual concerns with anyone. The development of this course has provided a space for debate and reflection of adolescents, making them potential multipliers in sexuality education among others. Upon completion of the course, it was reported behavioral changes of the same, especially changes related to self-image and self-esteem, including the growth of interest to studies.
