CONFERENCE: THE SEXUALITY IN ANGING

Abstract

Mankind is the only living being who know that will die. This disturbs him, and he looks for the illusion of eternity, as he could hide himself from his brevity. Finity is seen as a limitation, not as a limit that is imposed to life. Looking this way prevents him from the real growth towards maturity and happiness to be alive. Finity is a human condition and within it, we are challenged to find ways to overcome limitations, to find motivation to live with dignity, satisfaction, pleasure and meaning. Talking about getting old, is talking about being conscious of this finity, about the possibility of being challenged by it and about our capacity to surpass, to transform and to change attitudes. Life requires that we keep going ahead. Within this context, sexuality calls us to construct a pleasure and happy human being.
