MYTHS ABOUT THE SEXUALY IN SPINAL CORD INJURY PERSON

This paper aims to unveil what are the facts and the myths in the absurd belief that rounds the sexuality of disable people, especially of people with spinal cord injury. Wrongs believes of popular dominium which states that physically disable person are asexual, are not physically attractive, can't hold an erection, can't feel pleasure and can't reproduce, are discussed. lt's concluded that, even the sexual dysfunction of spinal cord injury person are receiving increasingly attention by professionals of rehabilitation area, physiological and medical aspects of the sexual dysfunction are beenemphasized in detriment to emotional aspects of the sexuality which, in the other hand, have been revealed much more relevant than physical factors on sexual satisfaction and in the quality of the relationships between the partners. Summarizing, the text emphasized that the disability per se doesn't constituted an impediment to the obtainment of rewards with sexual life.
