DIFFICULTY IN BREAKING THE AFFECTIVE BOND IN A VIOLENT MARITAL RELATIONSHIP

Psychological violence is one of the types of violence suffered by women most frequently in the context of domestic violence and has been neglected in scientific studies because it culminates, in many cases, in physical aggression. However, all cases of physical aggression in the marital relationship had an environment in which psychological violence was installed. Thus, the present article intends to discuss the reasons that lead a woman, who is in an offensive relationship, to have difficulty breaking the affective bond. To understand the specific phenomenon, the study will use the descriptive method based on a review of narrative literature, using electronic scientific articles, books, magazines and newspapers that address the theme as data sources. Understanding the phenomenon of psychological violence in the marital relationship and the complexity of the process of breaking up this relationship becomes fundamental to avoid its progression to other types of violence, including physical violence; in addition to helping health, security and judiciary professionals, mainly, to change their view, sometimes invested with prejudice, which encourages discriminatory behavior against female victims.
