Abstract

Educating for sexuality in schools constitutes a possible reality, besides being legislated in Brazil by the National Curriculum Parameters, arising from the last Law of Guidelines and Bases of National Education. Educating for sexuality in schools constitutes a possible reality, besides being legislated in Brazil by the National Curriculum Parameters, arising from the last Law of Guidelines and Bases of National Education. However, after almost twenty years of existence of this law, we still find unprepared teachers about content and /or willingness to overcome relational, administrative and educational barriers to work in the area. On the other hand, the recent attacks coming from society’s conservative sectors around implementation of gender relations discussions in schools directly affects projects on education for sexuality. Considering this condition, it is impossible to separate these two perspectives concerning the people’s identities, essential part of their lives. Educating for sexuality necessarily includes the understanding of gender relations as connections of power and respect for diversity. In this sense, it has become increasingly necessary the adoption and maintenance processes and teacher training projects. For this purpose, we implemented disciplines at the Bahia`s Federal University Bahia and Salvador University, accomplished extension actions and specialization courses that has constituted pedagogical processes suitable for sexuality educators’ formation. In these formations, we have adopted a participatory methodology that have favoured the collective construction of knowledge from a plenty of study and experience of all who has been involved. Also be standing as participants, educators appreciate the groups’ stories and experiences, feel stimulated in consideration of exchange experiences and collective construction of new knowledge: multiples, large, diversified and transformers.
